I have been programming in C for 5 years now and have yet to learn the specifics of C++. I have been a fan a Wii Homebrew since its beginnings and hope for the same with the DSi.
All I can say is, we're slowly making progress and cant wait until we can run our own code(well, with out executable size restrictions, e.g. CookHack and the likes)
